PTA NEWS
Parents and educators enriching the lives of
children at DeWitt Elementary PTA, P.O. Box 695,
DeWitt, Michigan 48820
President’s Message My first year as PTA president has been an enjoyable one, thanks to all the people I’ve gotten to work with. I’ve been especially fortunate to have a great leadership team. I can’t thank them enough for all they have done. And the team for next year promises to be just as good. I’m looking forward to working with them. The PTA has had a busy and successful year. We hosted the Tailgate and the Fun Run. We held Parent Education Programs and Family Fun Nights. We had our most profitable Carnival yet. We provided Holiday Gift Shops and Mileage Club to our younger students. We organized Staff Appreciation Week celebrations and Conference Meals at the schools. And we couldn’t have done it without all the great parent volunteers in DeWitt. As this year ends, I want to thank everyone who joined the PTA and/or got involved in PTA-sponsored activities. And to those who haven’t yet been involved, I’d like to invite you to join the PTA next year. It’s easy and inexpensive and you get great perks at local businesses. And you get to know that you are supporting your child’s educational experience. Have a great summer! Audit Committee We are looking for volunteers willing to serve on the audit committee. You should have an accounting background and be able to meet some time in July. Contact Cheryl Schimizzi at 669-1703 for more information. 2005-2006 PTA Leadership

I would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to all of the awesome Schavey Road staff, wonderful parents, and our absolutely wonderful children. I’ve appreciated all of your time, effort, and commitment that you have put forth to make the 2004/05 school year a great one for the students and PTA. Thank you for a great year and I wish all of you a fun-filled, safe summer! Roz Kramer, Schavey School PTA Representative PTA Website Don’t forget to check out the PTA Website. Find it at www.ptadewitt.org. Scott School News Mileage Club finished up last Friday with popsicle day. Many students completed the 20 miles for the water bottle and several continued on for miles and miles! It’s been a great year at Scott School. Thank you to all the volunteers who made the PTA-sponsored activities so successful. Herbison Woods Happenings As I reflect on this past school year I'm astounded at how quickly it has come to an end. It seems as if the PTA sponsored events at Herbison Woods were one fast break play after another! What would I have done if I had had to plan mileage club! And what would I have done if not for the dedicated pool of volunteers at Herbison Woods School! Thanks to all of you that gave of your time and talents to make each of the PTA events come off with very little hiccups. After each event, I received a plethora of thanks from the teachers and staff for all of the efforts of the parent volunteers. Our PTA gift to the teachers and staff, a water cooler for the lounge, was not without exception as many teachers e-mailed me personal thanks. The idea, however, belongs to Mrs. Ryan, with whom I would also like to thank for her support and guidance throughout the school year. Our last event of the year at H/W was Field Day! Special thanks to my husband for being my point guard in the morning. Thanks to all the parent volunteers including: Susan Treadway, Susan DeKorte, Sheryl Strouse, Michael Adrian, Robyn Spitzley, Wendy Fitzner, Cindy Puffenberger, Beth Aben, Karen McCloskey, Leann Matta, Missy Shaheen, Julie Courter, Robyn DeFranco, Geannine Simmer, DeAnna Kinney, Cheryl Schimizzi, Nancy Zamaira, Tricia Wieferich, Amy Tratt, George Verscheuve, Alicia Hostetler, Kay Harless, Jill Kaltenthaler, Sue Vlahakis, Kris Poulson, Nancy Lawrence, Donna Sowulewski, Pam Smith, Patti Maher, Tina Lewis, Patti Galica, Jill Curtiss.
