President’s Message

The PTA Carnival is over, but the PTA is still busy!  We are in the middle of Mileage Club at Schavey and Scott Schools.  We hosted a Skate Night on Thursday.  Next week is Staff Appreciation, which is filled with meals and goodies for our great staff members in the elementary buildings and transportation department.  And the Fun Run is almost here!  The PTA could not provide these activities without the great support of DeWitt families and our community.  Thank you to all who have volunteered and/or contributed to PTA-sponsored programs.  You help make DeWitt a great place for our kids!

Bus Driver Breakfast

One of the events sponsored by the PTA during Staff Appreciation Week is the annual Bus Driver Breakfast.  This year’s Breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 11.  If you would like to contribute food, beverages, table settings, or small gifts for a prize drawing, please contact Roz Kramer at 668-1081 or Theresa Butcher at 669-1270.  Thank you!

Fun Run is Coming!

It’s not too late to sign up for the PTA Fun Run for kids and parents to be held on Thursday, May 25 at the High School stadium.  A Pre-School 100-yard trot will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by a ¼ mile run for Kindergarten students at 6:10.  Schavey Road students will hit the ¼ mile track at 6:20 pm and third and fourth graders will run ½ mile at 6:35.  Fifth and sixth grade students are invited to take on a one-mile cross country run at 7:00 pm.  A one-mile Family walk/run will cap off the evening, also starting at 7:00.  The Fun Run is a great way to mark the end of the Mileage Club that has been taking place for our first through fourth graders over the last six weeks.

Registration fee is $10 per child or $40 per family, and includes tee shirt, bib number, finishing ribbon and post race refreshments.  Registrations will also be accepted prior to the first event.  Tee shirts are guaranteed only to runners who register by May 5th.  All DeWitt elementary families are invited to join in on the fun, which will include activities and door prizes!

Registration forms are available on the DeWitt Elementary PTA website at www.ptadewitt.org and can be returned to any elementary building office or to P.O. Box 695 in DeWitt.  For more information, call Susan Treadway at 668-0598.
