children at DeWitt Elementary PTA, P.O. Box 695,
DeWitt, Michigan 48820
Save the Date! The 2007 DeWitt PTA Carnival is Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Herbison Woods School. Come for the silent auction, games, prizes, raffle, cotton candy, etc.! The carnival is the PTA's largest annual fundraiser with hundreds of volunteers of all ages, raising thousands of dollars for the preschool through sixth grade children of DeWitt. Check out www.ptadewitt.org\carnival.htm to learn more about this exciting event! If you have any questions, feel free to send an email to dewittcarnival@yahoo.com (please use the word "carnival" in the subject line). Thanks! Danielle Bolda & Renee Ricks, 2007 Carnival Co-chairs Message from the President It is hard to believe that our school year is already half over. Spring Break will be here before we know it. Show your support these last 4 months of school by volunteering either in your child's classroom, at the Carnival (March 24th), during Mileage Club, for Staff Appreciation Week or Field Day. If you would like to get more involved in your School's PTA, we are looking to fill some positions for the 2007-2008 school year. Treasurer, Fast Friends, Vice-President, and Reps at Fuerstenau, Scott, and Herbison Woods will all be available. Talk to anyone on the current Board if you are interested. Scott School News Our next event will be gathering donations for the Carnival Silent Auction Baskets. We will be contacting volunteers who expressed an interest in coordinating these for your child's classroom. Some classrooms had more than one person sign up. We will just assign someone. The following classrooms still need a Basket Coordinator: McGiveron, Toth, Webb, Delp, Fizzell, Milner and Nowak. Mileage Club will be starting after Spring Break. Call Deb (668-0500) or Christine (669-6263) if you want to volunteer. Schavey School News We were busy at Schavey Road Elementary School in November and December! Donna Sowulewski and Cindy Brushaber Herbison Woods PTA Representatives Dewitt Family Skate Night Don’t forget to come to our very own Family Skating Party on Thursday, February 1st from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Edru Skate*A*Rama in Holt. (There was a misprint in the school calendar.) Admission is $5.00 and this includes your roller skate rental. (Roller Blades are $2.00 extra.) You can also bring your own skates or blades if you wish. Don’t forget about Laser Tag. The cost is $2.00 per game. We thought it would be fun to have a friendly competition between the schools. Let’s see who has the most in attendance from each of the schools. We’ll ask at the door which school your child goes to and at the end of the night, we’ll give prizes to the winning elementary school. As a reward from Edru for setting up 3 skate nights, they are giving us free passes for the Matinee Sessions during each of the school breaks. We will be passing these out at the skating party. Please make sure to get one. For any questions or suggestions, call Kristi Lewis at 669-8820 or email Kjdlewis@comcast.net. Please make a change to the next skate night printed incorrectly in the calendar; as well…it’s on Thursday, April 12th instead of April 11th. Sorry for the confusion. ~Happy Skating~ Holiday Gift Shop Update A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone involved in making the Holiday Gift Shops so successful again this year. The children had a great time filling their shopping bags with special gifts for family and friends. We very much appreciate our DeWitt families who continue to support out fundraisers. Thanks to you, we sold more than $16,130 of merchandise at our three elementary schools. Our profit of $3,204 will go toward the school allocation fund to be used on field trips, assemblies and other student enrichment programs. A special thanks goes out to the PTA building reps and parent volunteers who donated their time and energy to make the Gift Shops such a fun shopping experience for our students.
